LITURGY

 PRS F Chapel.jpg
The liturgy is at the very heart of Christian life. "For it is in the liturgy, especially in the divine sacrifice of the Eucharist, that ,the work of our redemption is accomplished,, and it is through the liturgy especially that the faithful are enabled to express in their lives and manifest to others the mystery of Christ and the real nature of the true church. (Sacrosanct Concilium 2). Because of its importance in the life of the church, the liturgy holds an essential place in the seminary. At St. Peter Chanel the liturgy is not only the subject of study, but, more critically, the liturgy is celebrated. The celebration is formative of Christian community as well as the individual believer.

Liturgical life at St Peter Chanel is centered on the Eucharist, primarily the daily celebration of mass. The liturgy of the Hours is also prayed each day so that we may be formed in the prayer of Christ and his church. The liturgical life of the seminary is completed by the celebration of the sacrament of Penance and appropriate devotions such as Benediction and Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament.
